Activities of the House are carried out through the Committee system. At the moment there are eight (8) main Committees in the House with different functions. These Committees are as follows;

The Research and Traditional Affairs Committee of the House is made up of Vice Presidents of all the Regional Houses of Chiefs. The Vice President of the National House of Chiefs is an ex-officio member of the Committee.
The Research and Traditional Affairs Committee among others deliberates on matters including petitions referred to it by the President and advice the House accordingly through the Standing Committee. The Committee also vets Chieftaincy Declaration Forms of Chiefs received from the Regional Houses and make recommendations to the House through the Standing Committee for entry of the names of the affected chiefs into the National Register of Chiefs.

The External Relations Committee of the House among other things is mandated to collect, collate and study views from the government, individuals and the general public about the National and Regional Houses of Chiefs and the institution of Chieftaincy in general appearing in the mass media and react to if such views as appear to be detrimental to the work of the National and Regional Houses of Chiefs or will have unfavorable effect on the institution of chieftaincy as a whole.
Also the Committee is required to publish major activities of the House in the print and electronic in order to highlight the important role Chieftaincy plays in National Affairs. The Committee also engages with external bodies/institutions as partners of development.

The four sets of panel of the Judicial Committees are indicated below;
- Cases from Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions are heard by one set of five chiefs from Northern, Central, Western and Upper East Regions.
- Cases from Central, Volta and Western Regions are heard by another set of members from Ashanti, Brong Ahafo and Greater Accra Regions
- Cases from Eastern, Upper West, and Greater Accra Regions are heard by a set of members from Upper East, Brong Ahafo, Northern and Central Regions.
- Cases from Northern and Upper East Regions are heard by the last set of members from Volta, Upper West, Greater Accra and Central Region.
